Cupping
Cupping is the application of glass jars to the surface of the skin by way of suction. Cupping relieves pain, increases mobility, breaks up adhesions, enhances detoxification, reduces stress, balances moods, boosts immunity, and improves lung function for colds and allergies.
Cupping can leave temporary circular red flushing (erythema) and tiny red or purple spots (petechiae). These marks are transient and can provide the practitioner with insight into the health of body tissues. The color and pattern of these marks indicates the level of stagnation of dead blood, lymph, cellular debris, pathogenic factors, and toxins present in the body. In this way, cupping is not only a therapeutic modality providing the patient with relief but also diagnostic. Cupping is extremely relaxing and not painful. Most patients actually prefer cupping to massage.
